Questions
1. Are we accredited?
We are! Nationally by the Department of Basic Education. We are also recognized by the GBF and FEDAS.
2. Do Voters register with VotingCrowd?
No, Voters are imported through a Voters Roll provided by the organization.
3. Will VotingCrowd administer nominations?
No, VotingCrowd will not administer nominations. This should be done by the organization itself.
4. Can we create our own elections?
No, as part of our pricing plan, we create and administer elections for you. You only have access to the dashboard during an election unless you purchase the annual plan.
5. How will voters receive their Usernames and Passwords?
VotingCrowd can send out a username or password, but before an election, SMS messages and emails are sent which includes a special link. The Voter will simply click this link to vote. The voter does not need to login in with a username and password. For certain cases (e.g. schools), a username and password report can be generated which includes cards for each voter to be used to login and vote.
6. Can VotingCrowd directly import a Voters Roll from the system we use?
VotingCrowd will import the Voters Roll in a specified format as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. We would love to interface with third party systems in future if permitted.
7. What will the Electoral Officer be able to do in our system?
The assigned Electoral Officer will only have access to a Dashboard during the election. The Electoral Officer will be able to monitor the election process. The Electoral Officer will NOT have access to other functions within the system.
8. We are afraid to provide ID numbers. What now?
No stress. You do not have to provide us with SA ID numbers. Any unique number that is identifiable can be used. You can also create a sequence of unique numbers per voter. Each voter and candidate should have a unique number though. Please watch this video to learn how to create a unique ID column with Microsoft Excel.
9. What is the purpose of Tag1 and Tag2 in the Voters Roll Template??
Please refer to the Voters Roll requirement section.
10. Our election started and a person is not on the Voter’s Roll. What now?
We have special administrator tools to add a person as a voter, even if the election started. We do however recommend that the Voter’s Roll is complete before the election. Only we will be able to add Voters afterwards.
11. Can I send an updated Voters Roll from time to time?
You can, BUT we prefer a final Voters Roll if possible.
12. Can I send an extract of the Voters Roll directly from our system? Will you clean the data?
We only do minimal cleanups. You must provide the Voters Roll in the format that we require. We will attempt to clean the data but will have to send the Voters Roll back if there are too many issues. We will not convert your Voters Roll to the desire format. Please use our Voters Roll Test Tool to test your completed Voters Roll.
13. Do I import the data myself?
No, please send it to us. We will do it for you. Either directly or through our Voters Roll Testing Tool.
14. A voter made a mistake during the voting process. What now?
We have a tool to reset a vote, but we do not recommend this.
